WHAT IS CHIROPRACTIC
Chiropractic is a natural, non invasive healing modality which corrects spinal
and joint misalignments. Vertebral misalignments can cause:
- Pain
- Muscle spasm
- Inflammation
- Muscle imbalances and weakness
- Nerve impingement
- Disc bulges
- Stiffness
- Premature arthritis
Chiropractic techniques restore normal spinal movement allowing the nervous and skeletal system to function at optimum health.
All joints including the jaw, shoulder, elbow, wrist, finger, hip, knee, ankle, toe and pelvis can be treated with Chiropractic. Chiropractic techniques correct joint biomechanics, reduce inflammation and accelerate the healing process of
injured muscles, tendons and ligaments.
It can also help with many types of injuries including sports injuries.
Chiropractic Treatment
Chiropractic techniques vary according to your specific body’s needs. Normally a gentle force
is applied in
a precise direction to the vertebrae or joint (adjustment) – either by hand or with a hand-held instrument called
an ‘activator’. Treatment may also involve joint mobilization or some soft tissue work
When you see your Chirotechnic practitioner, he/she will take your full medical history.
They will assess your
whole body alignment, posture and joint movement, using a number of orthopaedic, neurological and
muscle tests. The practitioner may also ask for x-rays or scans to help diagnose your symptoms.
Once the assessment has been done and a diagnosis made, your treatment will follow.
